My wife and I had the opportunity to travel to Thailand in the spring of 2016. During our visit to Bangkok, we took a private tour of the outskirts of the city center. We were glad to have the tour led by a local person because she explained insightful aspects of life in Thailand. She spoke about the agricultural products that are still cultivated the old-fashioned way. In this photo, naturally formed salt crystals are harvested from brackish water that is evaporated by the hot summer sun. From a roadside vendor near the salt fields, we purchased a bag of salt and divided it with our guide.
